  1. This is the big time having your own blog! I’m pretty excited for you and I think that this is going to be a wonderful way for you to be able to meet a lot of new friends! Good luck in your blogging, and I hope many leave kind blessings along the way.

  2. Wow, you have many hidden talents. I am privileged to have the book in my hands now and reading it. I feel as though I am almost in the story with them. I feel Daniel McBride’s grief and get excited when the “Three Brothers” talents make others lives better in and around the West Texas area. This is much more than I ever dreamed. I am awed at the story brought to life. Tell me, when will be have another book in our hands to read? I am anxious to read many books by Ted Purcell! Thanks.

  3. Ted, I’m certainly proud to be posting a comment on your Blog. I’m writing to your blog from deep in mountains of New Mexico where I’ve been hanging out for 3 weeks so far. We are living in a somewhat remote spot in the Jemez Mountains. Our cabin is at 9000′ and the nearest town with a grocery and fillin’ station is 45 minutes away. However, the small berg of Coyote, NM is about 25 minutes but does not have a cafe or hamburger joint. We did travel to Cuba, NM once during our 3 weeks here to pickup/resupply wine and potato chips. Just as a data point about the remoteness here, there is no phone service here. We can make calls on our cell phones up the road near a large rock–we get one bar and can usually only get in a short message. An example of needing badly to use the phone happened here this last Saturday when the electrical power went out at 11am. With great effort and luck we called the power company’s emergency number–of course, these days, we didn’t get a person but were able to leave a short message. We returned to the rock down the road later in the day to recontact the power company as we had no feedback from them and the power was still off Saturday afternoon at 4:30pm. Luckily it came back on at 5pm. So far I like your blog and hope to write here again. Your Cuz, Larry Padgett

PS: We’ll be spending several weeks here in the New Mexico mountains this summer. Later in the summer/early fall we plan to tour the Central Coast of California from Santa Cruz down to Pasa Robles and Pizmo Beach on to Solvang and Santa Barbara–winding the trip up near Ventura at the Navy campground at Port Hueneme.

  4. The book signing at Oak Cliff Library was a success. It was great to see the books well received by everyone. I am continuing to work with Amazon to get the books available with them as well as the ebooks accounts set up.
All Monahans ’65 classmates who would like to purchase our book on retirement advice and other tall tales can give me a shout on the MHS website on the message link. The cost of the book plus tax and shipping it to you will run $15.00. Checks should be payable to Ted Purcell. We hope to be able to donate proceeds after costs to the 50th reunion fund.
That price is good for anyone until we run out of copies. We will be doing a second run of paper books after the ebooks accounts are up and running.
To those of you who have already purchased the books, we hope to hear something from you in the form of a review on the site.
    Ted
