Ted Purcell

Ted Purcell is a retired educator who served 28 years in public education.  Ted is originally from west Texas where he grew up the youngest of ten children, (nine boys and one girl).  Ted  went to elementary school in Wickett, and later in Monahans for high school.  He served in the U.S.Navy for four years, doing two tours in Vietnam during 1966,67,&68.

After leaving the Navy, Ted went to Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX where he majored in Science.  He worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas as a field engineer.  He and his family were sent to Brazil by T. I. and spent ten years there before returning to west Texas where he changed his career field to public education.  He served as an aide,  teacher,  counselor, principal, and for the last thirteen years, as superintendent of a public open enrollment state charter school, with campuses  in Dallas and Waxahachie.

He lives in Waxahachie, Texas with his wife Charlotte, also a retired art teacher. He now is attempting to adjust to his “Fourth Quarter” life style and enjoys writing the sequels to his first historical fiction novel, On the Backs of Our Children.

  2. Ted, glad things are going well for you on your trip. I have been out of touch for a while. I qualified for a trip with my company, Nationwide Insurance, to Disneyland in California. Can you imagine a 65 year old in Disneyland! but anyway we had a great time and the weather was great. I saw the picture of your family and wondered if your whole family is on the trip or just you and wife. Let me know. If it is your whole family, that is probably the last time you will see them! Road trips are hell on family! lol Have fun and let me hear from you. later dh
